This experiment is investigating how effectively our moorlands will recover as air polluton is reduced. Levels of air pollution have been falling for some considerable time. Sulphur Dioxide pollution from burning fossil fuels like coal has fallen by 60% since the mid-1980's.
However, climate change is increasing temperatures and changing rainfall patterns. This experiment is taking place to see how the moorland will cope with these man-made changes to our climate and how it compares with the effect of less pollution.
Please note: if you come across any apparatus, experimental sites such as this or weather stations gathering imformation.
Please respect them. It is there to help protect the future of our moors. The place we like to frequent most of all.
